Opening Session of the 556th AUN-QA Programme Assessment
On December 02nd, 2025, Nong Lam University – Ho Chi Minh City (NLU) held the opening session of the 556th AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) programme assessment for Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Attending the Opening Session from the AUN-QA Assessment Team were Prof. Rowena L. Escolar Chua, RN, Ph.D – Lead Assessor; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sangsuree Vasupongayya – Assessor; Ms. Worawee Lamor – the AUN-QA Secretariat, along with other members of the AUN-QA Assessment Team. From NLU, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Tai Huan – Vice President; representatives from Office of Quality Assurance and Institutional Integrity, and leaders of Engineering and Technology faculty.
Taking place from December 02nd to 04th, this is the second AUN-QA Programme Assessment at NLU in 2025, and it stands as a powerful testament to the University’s pioneering role in enhancing the quality of education and training in the Southeast. Concurrently, it presents an opportunity for NLU to promote and reaffirm its social responsibility by training practically-oriented graduates who meet regional and international quality standards, thereby creating momentum for innovation and sustainable development in the context of globalized higher education.
During the three-day evaluation, the assessors and team members will work with leaders of Engineering and Technology faculty and relevant stakeholders, visit university facilities, and review self-assessment reports.

In his opening speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Tai Huan emphasized, “This assessment is the 08th we have conducted in collaboration with AUN-QA. Nong Lam University – Ho Chi Minh City became an AUN associate member in 2016, and since then, we have been applying AUN-QA practices across our campuses. As of December 2025, we have had 16 academic programmes assessed and awarded with AUN-QA certificates. I take great pleasure to inform you that Nong Lam University – Ho Chi Minh City sets high priority for quality assurance in education, research and community services. Our education philosophy is comprehensiveness, innovation and practicality.”

On behalf of the assessment team, Prof. Rowena L. Escolar Chua, RN, Ph.D expressed her appreciation for NLU’s strong commitment to continually enhancing educational quality. She emphasized that the activities taking place over the next few days would play a crucial role in improving the quality of the assessed academic programmes, serving not only current students but also many future generations. Prof. Rowena L. Escolar Chua, RN, Ph.D is delighted to partner with NLU.
